Study abroad document preparation: every document, in the order it is needed

Four groups of documents, one story across all of them. We write the statement, the CV and the letter of explanation, and check the rest of the file against them.

The short version

Document preparation for a study abroad application covers four groups: the academic record your university issues (transcripts, degree or provisional certificate, medium of instruction and backlog certificates), the writing (statement of purpose or personal statement, academic CV or resume, letters of recommendation, and a letter of explanation after a refusal), the money file (bank statements, loan sanction, sponsor documents), and the identity and compliance set (passport, English test, apostille or attestation, credential evaluation). We write the statement, the CV and the letter of explanation from a consultant-verified profile, from ₹2,000 for an edit and ₹3,500 for a written document, and check the other three groups so the whole file tells one story.

Reviewed

Every study abroad application is four groups of documents, and most delays come from treating them as one list. The academic record is issued by your university and cannot be hurried. The money file is issued by banks and is read against rules that change by country and by year. The identity and compliance set is passports, test scores, attestation and credential evaluation, each with its own clock. The writing is the only group that is produced rather than obtained, and it is the group that has to make the other three agree.

We prepare the writing from a consultant-verified profile and check the rest of the file against it. What follows is what that covers, what it costs, and where the other three groups come from.

What document preparation covers

Who produces each document, who checks it, and how long it takes to obtain. The slow ones are the ones to start first.

The documents we prepare

Four documents are written rather than obtained, and those are the ones we produce. The statement of purpose or, for the UK, the personal statement, written from a profile the consultant has verified against your transcripts and offer. The academic CV or resume, built to agree with the statement line by line, because the first thing a careful reader does is check the two against each other. And, after a visa refusal, the letter of explanation, which starts from the refusal letter rather than from a blank page.

Letters of recommendation are not on that list. A recommendation is the referee's document, and a letter the applicant wrote and the referee signed is misrepresentation if it is found out and useless if it is not. What we do is tell you, before you ask, what a strong letter for your programme needs to cover, so the referee is not guessing. The LOR format post is the public version of that brief.

If you already have drafts, the honest starting point is an edit at ₹2,000 rather than a rewrite, and the free review will tell you which you need.

The documents we check but cannot produce

Your university issues the academic record, and nothing we do shortens that. What we do is read it the way an admissions office and a visa officer will: whether the mark list's scale is explained, whether the backlog certificate matches what the statement says about the backlogs, whether the medium of instruction certificate actually exempts you from the English test the university lists, and whether the name on the degree is spelt the way it is on the passport.

The money file is read against rules that are specific and current: Canada's proof-of-funds figure, the UK's 28-day rule on maintenance, Germany's blocked account, Australia's Genuine Student evidence. We check the file against the current figure for your destination and intake, and the posts on Canadian proof of funds, UK maintenance funds and the German blocked account are kept up to date for the same reason.

Attestation, apostille and credential evaluation are procedural, and the posts on the apostille process and WES evaluation walk through them step by step. They are also the slowest items in the file, which is why the preparation timeline starts with them.

The check most files fail: one story across every document

A file is not read one document at a time. The officer who notices that the CV says an internship ran six months and the statement says a year does not stop to decide which is true; the discrepancy itself is the finding. The same applies to a gap the statement explains as a year of exam preparation when the bank statement shows a salary, or a recommendation letter dated before the project it describes.

So the last step before anything is submitted is a consistency pass across the whole set: dates, names, numbers, and the account of your own record told identically in the statement, the CV, the letters and the money file. It is included with the full application set and is the reason the set is priced as one piece of work rather than four documents.

  • Names: identical on passport, degree, transcripts, test score report and bank account; a mismatch needs an affidavit or a gazette correction, and that takes weeks.
  • Dates: every job, course and gap carries the same start and end month in every document that mentions it.
  • Numbers: CGPA, percentage and scale stated the same way everywhere, with the conversion explained once.
  • The plan: what you will do after the degree, said the same way in the SOP, the visa statement and the interview.

What each destination adds to the set

The core set is the same everywhere. Each country then adds documents of its own, and the country pages carry the full lists.

  • Canada: a provincial attestation letter for most programmes, proof of funds at the current figure, and a study-permit letter of explanation for anyone with a refusal, gap or change of field.
  • United Kingdom: the CAS from the university, maintenance funds held for 28 days, and a personal statement that can be defended in a credibility interview.
  • Australia: a Genuine Student statement answering the department's set questions, OSHC, and evidence of funds for the first year.
  • Germany: an APS certificate for Indian applicants, a blocked account, uni-assist or direct submission, and a Motivationsschreiben rather than an SOP.
  • Ireland: a personal statement for the college, a separate statement for the visa, and evidence of funds and fees paid.
  • United States: the I-20 from the university, the SEVIS fee receipt, financial documents for the full first year, and a programme-specific statement of purpose.
  • New Zealand: a statement of purpose read against a genuine-intent test, evidence of funds, and a medical and police certificate where required.

What it costs, and how long it takes

Prices are published rather than quoted on enquiry. A statement of purpose or personal statement written from your record starts at ₹3,500, an academic CV at ₹2,500, an edit of your own draft at ₹2,000, and the full application set, with the consistency check across every document, at ₹8,999. Each written document is delivered in four days with three revision rounds; the whole set is usually ready inside two weeks of the brief, with the university-issued documents being the only thing that can slow it.

Nothing is charged until the scope and price are agreed in writing, and if the document or the service is not what was promised, 75 per cent is refunded. The pricing page has the full terms.

Questions about document preparation

Do you prepare all the documents for a study abroad application?

We produce the written ones: the statement of purpose or personal statement, the academic CV or resume, and the letter of explanation after a refusal. We check the rest, the academic record, the money file and the identity and compliance set, for consistency with what the statement says. The documents issued by your university, your bank or a government office have to come from them, and we tell you which to start first.

Do you write letters of recommendation?

No. A recommendation is the referee's document, and a letter written by the applicant is misrepresentation if discovered. We brief you on what a strong letter for your programme needs to cover so your referee is not guessing, and we check the signed letter against the rest of the file.

How long does document preparation take?

Each written document is delivered in four days with three revision rounds, and the full set is usually ready inside two weeks of the brief. Transcripts, loan sanction, apostille and credential evaluation are the slow items, at two to eight weeks each, which is why the preparation timeline starts with them.

Can you prepare the visa documents after I have an offer?

Yes. The visa stage adds the money file, the country's own statement where it asks for one, and for anyone with a refusal, gap or change of field, a letter of explanation. We check the whole set against the current rules for your destination, and the figures on this site are dated so you can see when they were last verified.

Which documents need apostille or attestation?

It depends on the destination and the university. Germany and several European universities ask for attested copies of degree and transcripts; Canada and the UK usually accept sealed transcripts and certified copies without apostille. The apostille post sets out the process through MEA and the state authentication centres, and we tell you at the brief stage which documents in your file need it.

Is this different from what a study abroad consultancy does?

Yes. A consultancy's work is admission and the commission that follows it; the documents are a means to that end and are often templated. We are paid only for the documents, we do not take commission from universities, and the consistency check across the file is the service rather than a step on the way to one.

Send the documents you have, and the deadline.

A consultant reads the file, tells you which documents to start first, and quotes the writing before anything is charged.
