Also called MOI certificate, MOI

What is a medium of instruction certificate?

A medium of instruction certificate is a letter from your college or university confirming that your degree was taught and examined in English. Some universities accept it in place of an IELTS or TOEFL score, particularly for taught master's programmes in the UK, Ireland and parts of Canada and Australia.

Who needs a medium of instruction certificate?

Applicants hoping to waive an English test, and applicants to universities that require the document regardless.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming an MOI removes the visa English requirement as well as the university one
  • Getting a college-signed MOI when the university wants a university-signed one
