What is a bonafide certificate?
A bonafide certificate is a letter from your institution confirming that you are, or were, a genuine enrolled student there, stating your name, course, and the period of study. In study-abroad applications it is used to evidence current enrolment for scholarship and loan applications, and to support visa applications where proof of student status is required.

How do I get a bonafide certificate?
- Request in writing at your college office, stating the purpose
- Most colleges issue it within two to five working days
- Ask for it addressed to the specific bank or authority if the recipient requires that
