What is a letter of intent?

A letter of intent is a statement of purpose by another name, used by some Canadian and Irish institutions and by a number of professional programmes. Where the two appear in the same application, the letter of intent is usually the shorter and more direct of the two. Write to the word limit and the questions given rather than to the label.
