CA Valuation Certificate

Also called Chartered accountant valuation, CA certificate, Net worth certificate
What is a CA valuation certificate?
A CA valuation certificate is a statement of the value of assets, prepared and signed by a practising chartered accountant, that banks accept as evidence when sanctioning a secured education loan. Where the security is property, a separate valuer's report and a legal opinion on the title are usually required alongside it.

Who needs a CA valuation certificate?
Applicants taking a secured education loan, and anyone whose proof of funds rests on family assets rather than liquid savings.
How do I get a CA valuation certificate?
- Approach a practising chartered accountant with the asset documents: property deeds, bank statements, investment records
- For property, expect the bank to require its own empanelled valuer as well
- Allow two to three weeks, and longer if the title needs tracing
Common mistakes
- Commissioning it from an accountant the lender does not accept; ask the bank for its empanelled list first
- Leaving it until the sanction is urgent, when the valuation and legal opinion are the slowest parts of the file
- Assuming a valuation for one lender transfers to another
