What is a backlog certificate?

A backlog certificate is a university-issued document stating how many examination attempts you failed and later cleared during your degree, or confirming that you have none. Several universities in Australia, Germany and Canada ask for it explicitly, and some visa applications require it.

Applicants to universities that request it, and anyone with arrears on their record. A nil-backlog certificate is worth obtaining even with a clean record, because some portals require the document regardless of what it says.
